TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE WHO COMMENTED “THANK YOU FOR THE _____” ON THIS ‘DEVIANT’S’ PROFILE:

THIS IS A BOT ACCOUNT. IT IS DANGEROUS AND MASS SPAMS FAVORITES AND WATCHES IN ORDER TO LEAD PEOPLE INTO CLICKING INTO THE DANGEROUS LINK IN THEIR STATUS UP ABOVE. IT LINKS TO A DANGEROUS RANSOMWARE VIRUS WHICH WILL CORRUPT YOUR FILES AND MURDER YOUR COMPUTER. READ THESE JOURNALS FOR MORE INFORMATION!!!

IMPORTANT NEWS!!!! RANSOM WARE BOT, NEW BEHAVIORS>>>!!!THIS JOURNAL IS UPGRADED FREQUENTLY TO WARN OF FRESHLY DISCOVERED HACKED ACCOUNTS USERS SEND ME!!!<<<

Hello,
I apologize if you assume this is spam or find this reply to your, ''Thanks for the watch" comment annoying in any way. But I have brought you here to give you a friendly warning, my dear fellow deviant. I care for the safety of Deviant Art and the artists and art lovers within it. I warn you about the hijacked old deviant art accounts aggressively spreading status links followed by sexual innuendos to bait you to click it out of curiosity. These have nasty consequences when clicked on. These accounts draw your attention to their profile with a very effective tactic, by adding you to their watch. They know it's more than enough to get the typical dA user to quickly visit their profile to thank them, and the rest is up to you. The bot is hoping you click the status link out of curiosity alo
**RANSOMWARE WARNING, PLEASE READ**Good afternoon, everyone~ :meow:
Now I did promise myself some months ago that I wouldn't get involved with situations that wasn't the part of my business. However, this situation is an exception as it considers about everyone's safety on the internet.
What is the journal about anyways?

This user, CorruptTempest created a journal some time ago to warn the deviantART users about the bots using the Russian links which has led to viruses such as the computer lagging.
**EDIT 8/8/17 at 9:10PM EST -5**

What kind of link extension should we look out for?

You should be looking out for the following link extensions:
.ru and .pw
There could be others, but I will take a close look and see how common they are. Be cautious of those links as they may contain viruses!
**End of Edit**
Where did those bots come from anyways?
It was said that some Russians brought the old accounts on dA with the yahoo email servers and with weak passwords. These

STAY SAFE EVERYONE, AND DO NOT CLICK ON SUSPICIOUS LINKS!!

:shakefist: **** !! :censored:
Thank you for the warning, I never click on random links so I am safe :highfive:

Unfortunately these hacked accounts may also be humans, paid by criminals to lure new victims by making all these random +favs

amberlisac is not the hacker, it is other people (the real hackers and scammers) breaking into genuine accounts and causing the problem. These ransomware scams are really horrible, so thank you for trying to keep everyone safe :winner:

Of course. Most of these ransomeware accounts are old accounts that haven't been used in years being broken into. Thankfully, DA is working to remove the links to avoid people accidentally/curiously clicking on them.

You're welcome! :D
